With great pleasure and pride, we can announce that Walker Engineering NW Ltd has won the prestigious title of Engineering Company of the Year, awarded by the Mersey Maritime Industry.

This is a remarkable hat-trick for Walker, after picking up SME of the Year in 2019 and our first Engineering Company of the Year win in 2020. To receive such glowing endorsement from our industry is a wonderful recognition of the skill and dedication of the exceptional team behind Walker Engineering’s success.

The awards presentation ceremony was held at Anfield, the iconic home of Liverpool FC, before an audience of 500 prominent industry figures, hosted by Louise Minchin, until recently a presenter of BBC Breakfast.

Proceedings began with a video message from HRH the Princess Royal followed by a very positive speech from Robert Courts MP, the UK’s Maritime Minister, looking to a bright future for the maritime industry.

Under the timely theme of ‘Building Back Better’, 14 awards were presented, honouring the diverse range of contributions of businesses and other organisations to an industry which facilitates 95% of the UK’s global trade.

Particular attention was paid this year to the extraordinary resilience and ingenuity of the nominees in managing the disruption to operations and supply chains caused by the pandemic.

Walker Engineering has demonstrated its considerable strengths in completing several major projects all over the UK despite the numerous challenges and obstacles thrown in our way by Covid-19.

The Mersey Maritime Industry Awards is one of the biggest events in the maritime calendar. Liverpool is the largest port on the west coast of the UK, responsible for 45% of all trade with the USA. Walker Engineering, headquartered near this great city, is immensely proud to play its part in the region’s present and future prosperity.

To receive this coveted award – our third in as many years – is the highest honour imaginable. We will cherish it and aim to be back next year.
